Your own Robot Bartender
I saw this project a while back Its an opensource (well will be) robot that is like a CNC of sorts for mixing drinks. If you do not want to build your own from scratch, you can order a kit … Continue reading

MissingMoney.com is Xerox
Its always interesting to find out the different areas a company is involved in. In this case, Xerox runs missingmoney.com, a website to help people find money/property/etc that the government is holding onto. http://online.wsj.com/article/PR-CO-20140606-906628.html

Printer on Wheels
Clever idea, the author wanted to print on different media but not use an industrial printer, so the author converted a canon inkjet printer to have wheels instead of a paper feed. http://www.instructables.com/id/PrintO-Bot/
Build a PWM tester
This is going on my list of things to build. The author built a simple Pulse Width Modulator tester with an ATiny, a pot, and a few other misc parts. Well worth doing. I wonder if someone will build/sell the … Continue reading

Make a filament spool holder with PVC
Why waste plastic and have one print out when you can build a pretty sturdy one out of PVC (and its cheap). Author used 1.5 inch PVC pipe, 4 elbows, and 2 endcaps. About $8 in parts. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:69834

Xerox Services can’t catch a break
Now it sounds like they are in trouble in Florida with a bus/train software integration. End result, Xerox needs to deliver the software/hardware for the buses (working) and will pay a fine for the delays. http://www.wftv.com/news/news/local/problems-delay-sunrail-lynx-bus-confirmation-syste/ngFTg/

Realtime with Linux
Nice video about using an RPi with linux and managing a stepper. My 2 cents, you are better off using a real RTOS as from the list below. http://www.isy.liu.se/edu/kurs/TSEA81/lecture_linux_realtime.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_real-time_operating_systems

Bro – Opensource Network Analyzer
Stumbled on this while reading on some updates on SNORT. It looks interesting, its a passive analyzer and has a good feature list. Worth looking at in the future. http://www.darknet.org.uk/2014/05/bro-passive-open-source-network-traffic-analyzer/ https://www.bro.org/
Simple and Cheap IR receiver for arduino
Interesting hack using an LED and resistors. Not sure how effective it is. http://dangerousprototypes.com/2014/06/01/poor-makers-ir-receiver-2/ http://www.analysir.com/blog/
