Another automated turret build

This one is a bit interesting since it seems to shoot bursts out instead of single shots.  The difference from past ones is no arduino involved (RPi and a hat for motor control), and no laptop to do image processing/etc. … Continue reading

Nice write-up on how to convert your RPi to be a Google Assistant

So, want a google home but don’t want to shell out $100.  Have a spare RPi?  This looks like a good build to try out. http://www.instructables.com/id/Voice-Activated-Google-Assistant-for-Raspberry-Pi/

Cool looknig smart mirror

This has to be one of the nicer builds I have seen.  Uses a large monitor and the frame is perfect at hiding it.  Oh and a RPi is controlling the whole thing. https://www.instructables.com/id/LuxOs-Open-Joinery-32-Smart-Mirror/

Ha, simple robot build

This one is pretty impressive build.  With an RPi and some simple motor controllers. http://hackaday.com/2017/05/31/zerobot-is-as-simple-as-it-gets/

Getting Serial data from Arduion ot RPi to MySQL with CoAP

I have heard bits about CoAP in the past, never thought past that.  Looks like CoAP could be a good simple interface for IoT builds.  This one is getting sensor data out to the rest of the system https://www.instructables.com/id/Serial-Data-From-Arduino-to-Raspberry-Pi-to-MySQL-/

Awesome Arcade build

The author did a good job with writting up the hardware part of this build.  I like how all the measurements are done out for you too to cut your own. https://www.instructables.com/id/Arcade-Machine-Avengers-Design/

Turn an RPi into a Google Assistant

Not as nice as the real thing, but it gets the job done.  Looks like you can even do this with the origianl RPi’s too. https://www.instructables.com/id/Google-Assistant-on-a-Raspberry-Pi/ Oh and go here for adding a button to it https://www.instructables.com/id/Button-Trigger-for-Google-Assistant-on-the-Raspber/

Using an RPi for a homebrewed alarm system

This is an interesting build.  The core is a RPi but it has alot of logic built in to prevent from annoying other family members in the house. Keep the Burglars Away With Some Pi   https://partofthething.com/thoughts/?p=1037

Smashing, use to make desktops for TV’s and old monitors

Makes nice simple displays from something like an RPi to a display. https://github.com/Smashing/smashing

Turn a RPi into a PBX with Astrisk

Been wanting to do this for some time.  Should not that you do not need to use a Pi zero (any RPi will do).  The write up seems OK, it could use a bit more info here and there. https://www.instructables.com/id/RaspiAsteriskGoogle-Run-Google-Voice-Assistant-Via/
