Cool open source mason jar light design

Nice build for a solar lamp you can put in a mason jar.  My 2 cents, cheaper to buy a few LED candles and glue them to the jar.  The design is opensource, and looks nice, but…I figure about $10 … Continue reading

Interesting attack tool, Zarp

New one on me, Zarp seems to be oriented to attacking the local area network (so you are already on the network somehow).    It looks like it builds off existing tools that do this already but has more automation too … Continue reading

Nice article on using Blynk with Arduino

I remember the kickstarter project for Blynk.  Blynk was to be a platform to create interfaces to control the arduino from andriod or macOS, etc etc etc.  Not so sure how success it was, but it looks like some folks … Continue reading

Print out your own violin

This is a nice build, and it sounds good (note I am not a string player, so I don’t know for sure).  Downside, needs a decent size 3D printer to make it.  My little homebrew will not cut it. http://hackaday.com/2016/01/02/the-hovalin-open-source-3d-printed-violin-sounds-great/

Nice robot (CNC) for sidwalk painting

Nice build, and the author has a good write-up on how to make your own.   Interesting that he didn’t use steppers thought. http://www.open-electronics.org/paint-machine-print-bitmaps-on-pavements-and-sidewalks/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+OpenElectronics+%28Open+Electronics%29

Make castings with PLA

Interesting build.  basically its a one time shot where you make the cast on your 3D printer, then poor heated pewter into it. http://hackaday.com/2015/12/27/pewter-casting-with-pla/

The Robo Cops are coming

Knightscope has a mall like security robot to be used to help ID threats and issues.  Apparently you will only find them in Silicon Valley right now, and they rent out for $6.25 an hour….which is cheaper than someone in … Continue reading

A 2 way RPi Mirror

OK I like this build over some of the andriod based versions I have seen since, well, You are using a full blown linux system that is easier (for me) to update and modify.  Also you can use a bigger … Continue reading
