Windows XP Runs On 95% Of ATMs
This is just scary. But I guess it could be worse, it could be like Target running Windows NT…. http://www.ubergizmo.com/2014/01/windows-xp-still-runs-on-95-of-atm-machines/?utm_source=mainrss

Build a coin charger for a buck
The article says for a dollar. I’m thinking its around $3 myself just looking at stuff on ebay. But still its a good idea. I usually buy 50 of these batteries for $10, and toss them when spent, but it … Continue reading
Hack a Remote Control Snowblower
I looked at this and went, meh….Its a nice start, but I can see turning problems, and well, things falling apart fast. But its a start…. http://makezine.com/projects/remote-control-snowblower/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=%24%7Bfeed%7D&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+%24%7Bmakezineonline%7D+%28%24%7BMAKE%7D%29&utm_content=%24%7BGoogleReader%7D

I have used other carvers before. But this looks pretty easy to do. I’ll have to try it out with a trace someday. http://isc.sans.edu/diary/tcpflow+1.4.4+and+some+of+its+most+Interesting+Features/17408

Tunnel Robots for Border Patrol
Nice article on a write-up on robots being used to explore drug tunnels (could be used for search and rescue too). Only down side, they seem to cost about 34 G’s each. They loop pretty rugged and seem to have … Continue reading

Cops can track your phone for 4 cents an hour
Pretty scary that it only costs 4 cents an hour to track someone via phone. Heck alot cheaper (and easier) than putting a gumshoe to follow you around. Of course if you just lend the phone out to someone…. http://gizmodo.com/its-insanely-cheap-for-cops-to-track-your-cell-phone-1498678110?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+gizmodo%2Ffull+%28Gizmodo%29

Roku player software cracked for now
I have to say I have been impressed overall with Roku. I did a couple of quick scans on my own Roku and didn’t find anything obvious to break open (unlike many other embedded devices). For it to take this … Continue reading
