Make an Tachometer (RPM sensor) for a cordless drill motor

Nice write-up on how to convert the motor from a cordless drill to have a way to measure rotations on it.  This is useful for speed control and positioning of the motor. http://www.instructables.com/id/Cheap-and-Easy-Tachometer-RPM-Sensor-for-Brushed/?ALLSTEPS

Cheap $3 wireless transmitter

Nice idea on adapting some cheap transmitters, and using stereo in on a computer to receive the signals.  I’ll have to keep this one in mind for the future. http://hackaday.com/2013/05/19/wireless-microcontrollerpc-interface-for-3/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

RPi door security system

Nice project where the RPi verifies the ID and then opens the door, or can be used to remotely open the door.  I wonder what keeps the door “locked”.  It sounds like its dependent on the garage door opener only. … Continue reading
