A homemade drill press vice

I like this build, the author made his own drill press vice (and fence/table too if you think about it).  I am looking at it and wondering how I can make my own adjustments to it. http://www.instructables.com/id/Drill-Press-Vice/?ALLSTEPS

Cool app, I can see this working with my kids

The app, companion, basically allows you to tell a bunch of your contacts you are walking to xyz, and let them keep tabs on your walk, so if something happens, or the app detects you are not going the direction … Continue reading

Make an arduino based laser rangfinder

Interesting project, not much hardware work involved.  Down side, the !@#$# laser module is $300 dollars.  Bit out of my price range. http://hackaday.com/2014/07/01/pew-pew-an-arduino-based-laser-rangefinder/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

Making CNC based business cards

Clever build, the author makes a reference card on a copper board cut to the shape of a business card.  You could modify this to have more “business card” information on it and hand it out. http://hackaday.com/2015/09/10/cnced-business-card/ original: http://protological.com/reference-pcb-business-card-cnc/

Make a circle cutting jig for a router in 20 minutes

A nice simple build for using a scrap piece of plywood for making circles with a router.  The only thing I noticed is there is no “center hole” to mount the jig with.  Note, you see it in the video… … Continue reading

Another idea for interior closet doors

I like this one where the author also added in casters to the doors.  The author re-used the existing bi-fold doors and converted them into normal like doors. http://ana-white.com/2010/08/behind-closet-doors.html

I like this door shelf system better

This one looks nicer since the “shelf” part can be seen on the outside.  This would be nice on a closet door.  I also like how the shelf system sticks out a little bit from the door with quarter round.  … Continue reading

Build an inside door Shelving Unit

Nice build, the author uses plywood for the whole thing (I think I would just use boards since I don’t have quiet the workshop she has). http://wilkerdos.com/2015/04/diy-shelving-unit-for-inside-a-door/

I knew it, someone would make an M&M sorter

I was making jokes about an M&M sorter earlier this week from the skittles one.  Well someone did it. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1012209

OK the gear bit is cool, but the rollers for sand castles are better

The geared pattern builder for making patterns in the sand is neat, but what I really like is the rollers the guy built for adding texture to the walls of a sandcastle. http://www.3ders.org/articles/20150913-3d-printed-sand-castle-tools-made-with-math-to-play-with-math.html
