Possible Kernel Module for SPI on OpenWRT

Why is this important, well SPI, Serial Preferential Interface, is a great way for something like an arduino to talk to a cheap TP-link router to get network connectivity.  Since its not a standard thing in OpenWRT, the addition of … Continue reading

OpenDesk, got a CNC, make your own desk

I stumbled on this article about a desk plans that are pretty nice that are “opensource” (not sure what the license is yet), that you can download and send to a shopbot/CNC to rip out of plywood.  They look pretty … Continue reading

Xerox, looking for callcenter people in PHOENIX

Now you just read how a bunch of them are getting laid off in N.C., now they need more in Phoenix.  Which makes me wonder why would anyone want to go into this biz for a job if at any … Continue reading

I knew it, Xerox = ObamaCare

FINALLY, an article that points out what I have been saying, Xerox is going to be the call center for Obamacare.  The article only mentions its doing it for Kentucky for now. http://www.kentucky.com/2013/08/16/2770327/beshear-opens-kentuckys-obamacare.html

Xerox’s Business Strategy

Interesting interview (yes another one) with Xerox’s CEO, Ursula Burns.  I found it interesting that she mentions Xerox needs more STEM workers to move into services, but if you look at Xerox’s R&D spending, its at an all time low … Continue reading

Xerox Laying off 67 in N.C.

I can’t make heads or tails out of Xerox’s call centers.  You would think it might be easier to just re-direct the calls to an existing workforce than to hire/fire constantly. http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2013/08/15/xerox-call-center-in-raleigh-cutting.html

Xerox issued 1000s of bogus tickets in Baltimore

This came out of Chicago which plans to use Xerox to manage its red light/speeding cameras.  Guess it may not be such a good idea.  I wonder how many folks will fight the ticket knowing this. http://www.nbcchicago.com/blogs/ward-room/Xerox-Issued-1000s-of-Bogus-Speeding-Tickets-in-Baltimore-219565121.html

Why didn’t I do this with my CNC

The next gen of homebuilt CNC’s seem to all be made with extruded rail.  Which makes life SOO MUCH easier to build and know the drift isn’t so bad (as mine is with MFD).  But the cost goes up fast. http://hackaday.com/2013/07/26/cnc-router-built-with-8020-rail/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

Opensource/homegrown pick-n-place

Looks like some folks are trying to build a homemade pick-n-place machine.  It sounds promising but still in the works for now. http://hackadaycom.files.wordpress.com/2013/07/diy-pick-and-place.png?w=580&h=349

Interesting build for RPi to mine Bitcoins

I can’t see an RPi being a big bitcoin miner, but I do like the setup and the hardware (linux based) in general.  Might be good for a more robust low power system.  But…it uses a custom ASIC GPU that … Continue reading
