Another simple CNC build with an arduino

I have been seeing a new interest in home built CNC’s lately.  This one the author built for $200 Euro (230 US).  I think he could have gone cheaper (there is a nice simple CNC with arduino clone on EBay … Continue reading

GoCupi, cheaper version of Makelangelo, and All opensourced

I stumbled on a few more interesting drawbots.  The GoCupi, which had a kickstarter project last summer.  Its around 250 (plus 20 to ship) for the entire kit.  They published all the designs and code from the looks of it … Continue reading

Simple convert for a watercolorbot to a laser engraver

Nice post where the author converted his watercolor bot into a laser engraver.  Note this can be done only with the newer version of the watercolorbot.  I am pretty sure the original kickstarter one may not beable to hold the … Continue reading

An openhardware syringe

Thought the design was for medical stuff.  I was thinking more for cake decorating. http://3dprintingindustry.com/2015/02/02/3d-printed-open-hardware-syringe-pump-value-800m/

Converting a paper cutter to laser engraver

This is an interesting build.  Actually both bits are, the Silhouette Portrait papercutter is a $200 cheap CNC for paper.  Adding the $50 laser for cutting/engraving is a good idea.  And could be modified for other existing CNC’s. http://hackaday.com/2015/01/31/paper-cutter-becomes-a-laser-engraver/

Download and print your own parts from McMaster Carr

Great idea if you need to get the part quicker than shipping.  I question the copyright issues around this thought. http://www.instructables.com/id/Download-Edit-And-Print-Your-Own-Parts-From-McMast/

3D print and build your own walking spider like bot

Nice write-up and build on creating a spider like robot that walks via control from an arduino.  I took a quick look at the solidworks design, and it looks like it could be adapted for CNC cutouts instead of a … Continue reading

Closed loop control for 3D printing

Or CNC, the author talks about using servo’s/dc motors instead of steppers, and an encoder to tell where you are. http://www.3ders.org/articles/20150122-add-a-closed-loop-control-to-your-3d-printer-and-never-worry-about-missed-steps-again.html
