GoCupi, cheaper version of Makelangelo, and All opensourced

I stumbled on a few more interesting drawbots.  The GoCupi, which had a kickstarter project last summer.  Its around 250 (plus 20 to ship) for the entire kit.  They published all the designs and code from the looks of it and it runs on an Raspberry Pi (most others use arduinos).  Why is this important?  Well in theory you could put CAM/CAD on that RPi and have just one system do all the work.  The other one I have heard about in the past is polargraph, which is pricey compared to Makelangelo and GoCupi.  But still an insteresting build.  Me, well I have…err had running at 3D printer, plenty of steppers, and RPi’s so I am tempted to build the gocupi…but.  All of these systems have custom motor controller boards.  It would be nice if they used something a bit more common.
