Nice robot (CNC) for sidwalk painting

Nice build, and the author has a good write-up on how to make your own.   Interesting that he didn’t use steppers thought. http://www.open-electronics.org/paint-machine-print-bitmaps-on-pavements-and-sidewalks/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+OpenElectronics+%28Open+Electronics%29

Sundial on my list to print out

I think it might be a bit too tall for my printer, but this is a cool printout to do. http://www.3ders.org/articles/20151231-diy-3d-printed-sundial-displays-time-like-a-digital-clock.html

I like this 3D printed out bit holder

Nice one to print out.  I just need a magnet to go with it.  You can get 100 of them for $5 (and wait a few weeks).  I might mix the design a bit to beable to add a few … Continue reading

Create you own custom 3D printed stamps

My list just keeps growing with projects.  This one is a nice write-up on how to create your own custom stamp. http://makezine.com/projects/3d-print-custom-stamps-using-inkscape-and-openscad/

Different take on 3D printing with glass

Instead of the head of the printer moving around (Extruder), the creators move the entire bed around and let the glass “drop” down.  Its an interesting approach. http://3dprintingindustry.com/2015/12/17/63651/

Another nice CD-ROM based laser engraver

These seem to be growing in popularity to build lately.  Here is another write up to build on with an arduino to control it.  I like the box the author built for this too.  I like the safety measures the … Continue reading

Cool 3D printed swamp boat

Nice 3D printed (with parts from hobbyking) boat.  My 2 cents…you could by one cheaper. http://www.instructables.com/id/3D-printed-Swamp-boat/

Another CDROM CNC plotter

OK I know, there have been lots of these builds, and you can even “buy” one for $100ish these days.  But this is one of the cleanest looking builds of a CDROM CNC I have seen yet. http://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-Mini-CNC-Plotter-Machine-from-dvd-drives/

Building a laser engraver on the cheap.

And cheap it is.  The Y is an old printer carriage, X is an old flatbed scanner.  An arduino with homemade motor controllers is controlling everything.  Hold on, I think he is using stepsticks…it seems to switch.  The laser is … Continue reading

3D Slash runs on RPis now

Actually I was more interested in 3D Slash than the fact i can run on an raspberry pi.  The software looks like a simple CAD/CAM package.  And if it can run on an RPi, means its not too CPU intense … Continue reading
