Another DVD CNC/Laser engraver

But this one has some 3D printed parts to make it a bit easier to build.  It looks nicer than some of the homebrews I ahve seen too. http://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-CNC-Laser-Enrgaver-From-DVD-Drive/

Make molds for metal with Silicone

The author has a pretty detailed video on the steps he took.  Overall is a pretty nice build.  Not so sure where I would get a “pressure chamber” thought to get rid of air bubbles like he did. Silicone Molds … Continue reading

Turn a Dremel into a simple centrifuge

I am a little leery about a tube slipping out and shattering somewhere.  But overall the concept is pretty good.  Cheap build too. https://www.instructables.com/id/3D-Printed-Dremel-Centrifuge/

Pretty simple 2D CNC arm

Basically a simple plotter.  This one is a nice build cause you can move it around and it seems to cover a full 8×11 sheet of paper.  Could be worth checking out someday to build myself.  Oh uses an arduino … Continue reading

Nice build for a motorized lazy susan

Pretty neat hack to convert a Lazy susan to be motorized.  Cheap too…well except the motor… https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2466993

3D print your own bladeless fan

Ironically its not really blade less (fan is actually located in the base of these things).  This one is pretty neat build, uses a computer fan to push the air. https://www.instructables.com/id/3D-Printed-Portable-Bladeless-Fan/

So print your own Sub?

This will bwe an interesting project to follow.  a 30 foot sub printing out in under a week.  Still needs motors, electronics, etc…. http://www.3ders.org/articles/20170721-3d-printed-submarine-built-with-ornls-baam-3d-printer-suggests-additive-future-for-navy.html

Another Opensource safe cracker

Looks like these things are getting more and more advanced.  This one can crack a sentry safe in 15 minutes (73 worst case). http://www.3ders.org/articles/20170721-this-3d-printed-open-source-robot-can-crack-a-safe-in-as-little-as-15-minutes.html

OK this is pretty funny

The author built a simple robot that climbs up a rope, and then cuts the line. Oh and falls down to the ground too. http://www.3ders.org/articles/20170702-diy-3d-printed-ropebot-can-climb-trees-and-cut-down-ropes.html

OK I like this build, Turbine powered drill

Not so sure if I could make the metal bits/spacers (no lathe).    But I like the build overall.  This would be a nice add to a CNC.   Only issue is torque…not so sure you can get enough from a vac … Continue reading
