Cheap simple T-Copter build

Nice write-up on building a cheap…well under a $100 by my guess…t-copter.  Why not a quad or tri?  Well the author explains why in his write up (cost, ease of build, etc). http://www.instructables.com/id/Cheap-crash-resistant-portable-T-Copter/

automatic vent shutoffs with arduino (ish)

A father/daughter team basically built a system that is like NEST but for your heat vents.  So it will shut off/open vents as needed, thus saving the costs of heating/cooling your entire house.  Its using some arduino like clone for … Continue reading

Build a chalk (powdered) printer

Interesting build where the author basically makes an 8 bit dot matrix printer with cans of spray chalk (totally see this getting converted with spraypaint right?).  Downside is someone has to pull the bot along to print out on the … Continue reading

A carpet drawing bot

I got a kick out of this,  the author basically build a bot that can “draw” on the carpet by rubbing on it as its moved across the carpet.  Clever idea. http://gizmodo.com/this-clever-carpet-printer-brushes-pictures-onto-your-1622164024

The opensource segway

Stumbled on this project by accident, its an opensource segway called openwheels.  Looks like the materials to build it cost around $300-500.  Something else to look at in the future. http://www.open-electronics.org/tag/openwheels/

Watch this poor guy try to ride a one wheel segway

Interesting product coming from China called the SoloWheel, that is a Segway on one wheel.  The reviewer has a tough time staying on it, never mind navigating with it.  And at $2G’s a whack, its not on my list of … Continue reading

Your own Robot Bartender

I saw this project a while back  Its an opensource (well will be) robot that is like a CNC of sorts for mixing drinks.  If you do not want to build your own from scratch, you can order a kit … Continue reading

Printer on Wheels

Clever idea, the author wanted to print on different media but not use an industrial printer, so the author converted a canon inkjet printer to have wheels instead of a paper feed. http://www.instructables.com/id/PrintO-Bot/
