Hall affect limit switches

I like this idea, most of the limit switches I use for CNC are mechanical based.  This is a magnetic field based and is contact less.  It doesn’t look like it would cost much to make either.. http://hackaday.com/2013/04/03/hall-effect-limit-switches-for-a-3d-printer/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

Make a water tilt switch

Simple directions for a basic “trigger” when the water tips.  Why would you do this?  To see if something is “leaning” when it should not be. http://www.instructables.com/id/make-a-water-tilt-switch/

Water fill circuit

Nice write-up on how to build a circuit to control the water level without using a standard float switch.  This could be something interesting to do in the future. http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-a-simple-water-level-control/?ALLSTEPS

Portable Powered Motion Sensor

So why would you want this.  Think haloween props and other holidays where you want something to turn on to greet guests. http://www.instructables.com/id/MOTION-SENSOR-Good-to-GoQuick-Easy/

Nice intro to capactitive touch sensors

Nice intro into how it works. http://dangerousprototypes.com/2013/03/02/microchip-capacitive-proximity-design-guide/

Smartpulse, opensource pulse/O2 reader

This is neat, and small, its an opensource project in a competition for the insertcoin contest.  It can read O2 and pulse of a person and apparently can connect to other systems via bluetooth 4.  I didn’t pull up any … Continue reading

Build a Wireless Robot

Interesting build with some scrap parts (kids old toys) , a quazi arduino, and other bits.  I think I would have skipped using bluetooth thought… http://www.instructables.com/id/Wireless-Robot-V2-Support-WiFi-Bluetooth/

Phonejack Thermometers

Nice write-up on making some Thermometers that you can run off of existing phone lines.  Why would you do this, well record what room is in what temp.  Re-use phone lines (who uses POTS anymore anyways?).  Of course the controller … Continue reading

Use a TP-Link as a camera broadcaster

OK something else to add to my list.  Why would this be useful, think cheap wireless camera.  I have some good  cameras that would be nice to “network” them.  And TP-link are cheap.  http://forums.openpilot.org/blog/52/entry-91-tp-link-wr703n-as-telemetry-link-and-camera-broadcasting-part3-video/ http://dangerousprototypes.com/2012/12/13/tp-link-wr703n-as-telemetry-link-and-camera-broadcasting-tutorial/

3D scanner with an arduino, a motor, and some legos

Nice writeup on building a 3D scanner.  Which you will need to scann in and print out 3D objects  🙂 http://www.instructables.com/id/Lets-cook-3D-scanner-based-on-Arduino-and-Proces/
