Another Ardiuno on a Chip only build

OK I won’t be doing this, arduinos are getting down in price I would rather just buy a mini one.  But if you are really cheap, and need an arduino so its basically just the chip in size.  This maybe … Continue reading

Convert a motorized water gun into a sentry gun

Nice build where teh author uses a simple prox sensor and relay control for the gun to shoot.  Would have been more impressive if it used opensentry. http://makezine.com/projects/motion-activated-water-gun-turret/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=%24{feed}&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+%24{makezineonline}+%28%24{MAKE}%29&utm_content=%24{GoogleReader}

Other ways to write code for Arduino

Interesting article that goes over other tools to write code for arduino’s mostly visual based.  Me…I’ll stick to C. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/programming-languages-can-use-arduino/

Build a doorbell listener with an arduino

Actually with a Moteino (arduino like) that has wireless support.  This way it can talk to a bigger system, like an RPi to handle the data.  I also like the authors garage door variant too. http://lowpowerlab.com/blog/2015/04/13/doorbell-moteino/

Cheap wi-fi enabled microcontroller

It looks like the remainder of the story about converting an ESP8266 for Arduino is done, so I just wanted to repost the link. http://makezine.com/2015/04/01/esp8266-5-microcontroller-wi-fi-now-arduino-compatible/

Another simple (ish) eggbot build

This once is nice since it doesn’t require a 3D printer, uses an arduino (over PIC), and can be built with hand tools.  Oh and its a cheap build too.  Me, I think I would use a CNC shield over … Continue reading

Building a simple ATiny board

This is the ultimate in cheaping for the ATiny, Total cost is 2-3 dollars to build your own.  I think a simple ATiny board runs around 7-10 dollars. www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-a-cheap-Attiny-Arduino-Board/

Print out your own wireless door lock

This is a nice build where the author uses an arduino like board with NFC built in to control a servo that locks/unlocks the door.  The downside, the NFC board is $40.  Bluetooth maybe a better…well cheaper…solution.  The other thing … Continue reading

LightBlue Bean adds in Node-RED support

Lightblue bean is a lowpowered arduino like board that supports bluetooth.  Its a nifty setup.  Apparently the creators have added in Node-RED, which is like Node-js but for Internet of Things.  Or so I understand.  I wonder how well Node-* … Continue reading
