This is a simple motor

I really need to get better at embedding video into this blog.  Nice video of a simple motor with the battery as the hub.  This would be a cool intro to motors for kids. http://blog.makezine.com/2013/04/26/the-simplest-dc-motor-in-the-world/

Breaking NTLMv2

Nice write-up on breaking NTLMv2.  The author is using Kali Linux (spinoff from backtrack).  I haven’t tried Kali yet, but this might push me over. http://pen-testing.sans.org/blog/pen-testing/2013/04/25/smb-relay-demystified-and-ntlmv2-pwnage-with-python

Xerox Exec goes to be come a CEO

Scott Mingee is now the CEO of Health Systems International.  There seems to be a trend of exec’s in the technology end of Xerox leaving.  Sign of the times perhaps? http://online.wsj.com/article/PR-CO-20130426-911815.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

Xerox makes a program to grade your kids

Just what every kid wants, their homework graded by a robot (software).  I think about how bad some bots are at sorting resumes and data mining, I shiver at the thought as how kids will be graded by software like this. … Continue reading

Make a shimmering dress

Oh the ideas…I think I know what to do for a haloween costume for the kids.  The only downside to this project is the cost.  If I am totaling up the hardware right, the one dress will run you $100 in materials. … Continue reading

Neat touchscreen to speaker with TI

This was clever, the author using at TI MSP and a touchscreen made a cooridnate system for “keys” for a piano-like setup and the TI then pipes the note thru the speaker.  Pretty clever and “cheap” http://dangerousprototypes.com/2013/04/25/tiano-msp430-based-touchscreen-piano
