A folding wheel
I read about this in Pop Sci or Pop.Mechanics magazine the other day. Its a wheelchair wheel that can fold down for transport. Having transported wheelchairs in the past, this would be a nice option (its hard to get the … Continue reading

Xerox: Still committed to Oregon
his sounds like a warm and fuzzy release came out of Xerox to keep local officials happy that they just didn’t sell off everything in Oregon, and layoffs will be next. http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/blog/2013/12/despite-sale-xerox-committed-to.html

CEO of Xerox, this is why she should not interview
Its a 2 minute clip, she had a question from the audience and basically did a horrible job answering it. Maybe this is why she only does “canned” interviews. http://money.cnn.com/video/technology/2013/10/18/f-mpw-ursula-burns-twitter.fortune/index.html?iid=G_Taboola

6 Alternative Cryptocurrencies to Bitcoin

The Biggest Skimmers of All: Fake ATMs — Krebs on Security
This is pretty amazing, the entire ATM front end is fake. Its a cover with a laptop and reader on the inside that covers over the existing ATM. At this rate I wonder if it would not be easier to … Continue reading

Xerox adding Jobs in Upstate NY
Actually bringing some jobs back from China. I thought this was odd til I noticed the big chunk of change New York State is forking out for it. Must be an election year coming up for some NY’ers. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/news/local/2013/12/18/xerox-to-move-optical-scanner-facility-from-china-to-canandaigua/4117315/

A Needle Printer
This is interesting design, the author for around $200 build a printer that uses a needle to punch holes in paper. This could have potential to make expand into needlepoint someday. http://hackaday.com/2013/12/19/a-weird-kind-of-printer/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

Well so much for Xerox getting into 3D printing
Looks like Xerox sold off a bunch more of its engineering, this time to 3D systems. Hopefully things will fair better for those folks than the ones sold to HCL. http://www.oregonlive.com/silicon-forest/index.ssf/2013/12/xerox_sells_portion_of_its_wil.html

Learn the basics of CNC
Nice site that has some good lessons on CNC basics, you can download the windows game, or run thru the website on it (not as nice looking). Oh and its free. Worth trying out and showing kids. http://hackaday.com/2013/12/05/learncnc-game/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29 http://learn-cnc-game.sourceforge.net/lesson_browser/index.html?lesson=0&page=1 http://learncnc.org/
