One crazy slingshot…err cannon?

I love the slingshot channel.  But this thing is crazy, it basically has a spiral inside the circle that spins the big ballbearings around and then fires them out at the end.  I can’t imagine building this thing. http://gizmodo.com/turn-a-drill-into-a-shotgun-with-this-spinning-disc-of-1148139177?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+gizmodo%2Ffull+%28Gizmodo%29

Build a small Battle Bot

If I could only get my kids into this.  Nice write-up on a simple battle bot.  Of course you need access to a metal CNC to cut out the body, and about $300, maybe more in parts. http://www.instructables.com/id/Unskinny-Bot-3-lb-Horizontal-Spinner-Combat-Bot/

This is pretty neat, basically the author shows how to make a mini turbine for compressed air (off an air compressor).  Not sure what to apply this too yet.  But could be useful for future tools. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-a-Mini-Compressed-Air-Turbine/

Leap Motion Opensource

Well not really the leap motion hardware/special software.  But more so the interfaces into it.  This sounds promising (been looking at leap motion for a while now).  I wish I had time and 100 bucks to look more into this … Continue reading

A closer look at Android Malware kit

All I can say is wow, times have changed.  This is a pretty slick looking interface for a malware tool.  It makes just about anyone a script kiddie. http://krebsonsecurity.com/2013/08/a-closer-look-perkele-android-malware-kit/

Cool robot can squeeze under your door

The video is funny to watch, basically it reminds me of one of the toy cars that came out 5 years ago with screws for wheels and could angle the wheels to move around better.  I like the video of … Continue reading

Nice article on how to encrypt files

Most of the items in the article I knew about (truecrypt, bitlocker, etc).  But…I did not know it was build into OpenOffice.  I wonder if LibreOffice has the same thing. http://www.howtogeek.com/170352/how-to-password-protect-files-and-folders-with-encryption/

Make a belt sander stand

Unfortunately its a video only.  I like this one (wish it had better directions) than the one linked below it (and in the picture).  Someday I may make one myself. http://www.instructables.com/id/Mini-Edge-Sander-Belt-sander-Stand/

Decksrew for Extruder

This would be cool if it becomes real  The author theorizes about using a deck screw to move filament thru for 3D printing. http://hackaday.com/2013/08/17/a-deck-screw-extruder/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29
