Cool way to make a metal part

The author 3D prints the inital mold.  Then uess some sort of silicon (smooth-on mold star 15) which can take the head of molted tin-bismuth, which is then pored into it to make the metal part. Casting Metal Parts and … Continue reading

Huge drawing machine

This has to be one of the largest Polargraph’s I have seen.  They are pretty simple machines and the author did release “some” of the project files on thingiverse.  But not the motor mounts or CNC based plans (only 3D … Continue reading

3D print your own brace

Well in this case you print the flat version, then heat it up and shape it.  Clever idea, I can see this being expanded on where doctors could make custom braces in house. http://www.instructables.com/id/3D-Printed-Thumb-Wrist-Immobilization-Brace/

Nice looking CROM CNC machine build

I like this build since it allows for you to move the CNC to different surfaces.  It looks really professional and the frame is really well done (hand cut from acrylic sheet).  Unfortunately no plans or dimensions for the sheet … Continue reading

Neat CNC foam cutter

I can’t tell if they are going to have an offering to buy this, but everything seems to be opensource.   CUTTING PLOTTER FOR POLYSTYRENE

How to print on fabric

Actually on a nylon net.  Pretty cool idea, you start the print, pause it, put the net down, then print some more. https://makezine.com/2018/02/12/3d-print-fabric/

Now I only need a good sized laser cutter

This is a nice build, and the plans are free.  But…you need a laser cutter to cut all the parts out.  I wonder if the author will “kit” this project for those of us without laser cutters. https://www.instructables.com/id/Laser-Cut-Machinist-Toolbox/

Interesting dot matrix printer

Interesting build for a dot matrix printer.  Looks pretty easy to modify for muli colors too.  I like how its adjustable for “paper size”. https://www.instructables.com/id/Doter-Huge-Arduino-Based-Dot-Matrix-Printer/

This is one crazy plotter

OK its using an old scanner bed, CDROM drive for the Y axis, and a harddrive seeker to whack a pencil on the paper.  Well worth watching the video. Junk Build Printer Uses Pencil To Print

Nice write up on a CNC build

Author did a good job spelling out the parts and how to build this.  Total cost was around $400 to build.  You could go cheaper with using something besides t-bar. https://www.instructables.com/id/Modular-DIY-CNC-Machine/
