OpenROV, you own underwater explorer
I remember hearing about this project about a year ago (maybe a kickstarter project?). Anyways, its a neat idea to build a sub/robot that can go down 100 feet. For about 1 grand. Me, they need to move that decimal … Continue reading

Turn anything into a flying drone
Interesting build that basically has you attach 4 propellers to an object and presto, instant flying drone. No kit for this but you can buy/build all the parts yourself. A quick eyeball estimation tells me this could be around $400 … Continue reading

Nice intro to model airplane propellers
If you want to start taking your robots into the sky, you should watch this video. http://makezine.com/video/maker-hangar-episode-2-propellers/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=%24%7Bfeed%7D&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+%24%7Bmakezineonline%7D+%28%24%7BMAKE%7D%29&utm_content=%24%7BGoogleReader%7D

Stage moving robot
Interesting robot that is using a wrt54G and an arduino for a controller, it basically can move stage scenes around (kindof like amazon’s shipping robots). http://rybitski.com/scenerymover.html

Using power window motors for high torque, low speed
I never thought of it, power windows in cars do have some pretty hefty motors in them, and run at a good slow speed AND are typically 12 volt….hummm. Make good drivers for a robot. http://thebitbangtheory.blogspot.pt/2013/05/high-torque-encoded-dc-motors-for.html
Auto R/C car

Nice write-up on Omni-wheel development
I put a link to the “translated” page since its all in german. They author is doing a lot of work with Omni wheels and figuring out the math to use them. http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&sl=de&tl=en&u=http://www.mtahlers.de http://makezine.com/2013/06/12/omni-wheel-mobile-platform/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=%2524%257Bfeed%257D&utm_campaign=Feed%253A%20%2524%257Bmakezineonline%257D%20%2528%2524%257BMAKE%257D%2529&utm_content=%2524%257BGoogleReader%257D

Make a starfish like air rubber gripper
Interesting build, looks nicer than the balloon with coffee grinds solution (and cleaner). http://www.instructables.com/id/Air-Powered-Soft-Robotic-Gripper/
