A Needle Printer

This is interesting design, the author for around $200 build a printer that uses a needle to punch holes in paper.  This could have potential to make expand into needlepoint someday. http://hackaday.com/2013/12/19/a-weird-kind-of-printer/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

Even Cheaper outlet Control

OK this is even a cheaper solution to control 3 outlets.  It uses Home Depot’s RF outlet controller, and arduino with eithernet shield (OK thats not so cheap) and a cheap RF module. http://hackaday.com/2013/12/06/android-and-arduino-rf-outlet-selector/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29 http://www.33snowflakes.com/blog/arduino-wireless-outlet/

App for arduino to control lights via bluetooth

Interesting, someone wrote an android app to controll lights via bluetooth to an arduino…sounds like a kickstarter project I sponsored could use this…. http://hackedgadgets.com/2013/11/16/androidarduino-lighting-controller/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+HackedGadgets+%28Hacked+Gadgets%29 http://www.plastibots.com/index.php/2013/11/12/glo-control-android-app-arduino-controller-2/

Interesting wireless Proximity Sensor

Interesting prox sensor build.  It uses an atiny, prox sensor, and RFM12B RF transmitter for the build.  The article figures the cost for each one to be around $15.  How I don’t know (atiny board $10, transmitter $5, sensor $3, … Continue reading

Nuts, I sponsored another kickstarter like project

Its a bluetooth arduino for 20-25 dollars with low power consumption.  It sounds promising. and for the cheap price (cheaper than some arduino bluetooth shields) its worth a shot.  Oh its more of an ATiny though. https://launch.punchthrough.com/

Arduino library for PWM of DC motors

Interesting library.  I will have to look at this some more in the future.  Basically it will allow you to control 4 motors at a time with PWM (and direction).  It looks like its using an L293D to power the … Continue reading

Beware of your Wallet

Article points out how easy it is to build an RFID reader now.  In this case with a shield for arduino http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/dont-let-them-scan-you-blocking-rfid-chips/ http://www.trossenrobotics.com/rfiduino

Programming an arduino via Ubuntu

Write-up on how to use the arduino from Linux (basically).  Its pretty simple now.  My 2 cents, I am trying to convert over to eclipse which offers much more power for programming.  But its not going so well.  The author … Continue reading

Build a gas detector

The author build his own gas detector, partly due to costs of commercial one I gather, using an arduino no less. http://makezine.com/video/projects-with-ryan-slaugh-diy-gas-leak-detector/

Arduino TV Annoyer

Good write-up on how to build a TV annoyer, thought using a full arduino seems overkill.  The rest only costs 1-2 dollars in parts. http://www.instructables.com/id/150-Arduino-TV-Annoyer-Turns-TVs-on-when-you-/?ALLSTEPS http://lifehacker.com/how-to-build-an-arduino-tv-annoyer-1455875485?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+lifehacker%2Ffull+%28Lifehacker%29
