Interesting dot matrix printer

Interesting build for a dot matrix printer.  Looks pretty easy to modify for muli colors too.  I like how its adjustable for “paper size”. https://www.instructables.com/id/Doter-Huge-Arduino-Based-Dot-Matrix-Printer/

This is one crazy plotter

OK its using an old scanner bed, CDROM drive for the Y axis, and a harddrive seeker to whack a pencil on the paper.  Well worth watching the video. Junk Build Printer Uses Pencil To Print

How to convert a BluePill into an Teensy

$2 for the board….no wonder the author went thru the trouble to convert it to a Teensy based system.  Teensy’s run around $20.  Typically when I hit that point I start thinking about using RPi’s. http://coytbarringer.com/programming-stm32f103-blue-pill-using-usb-bootloader-platformio/

OK I think I would have spent the 20 minutes cutting the wire

The author took a old manual cable cutter, sunk 4 days to build an automated cable cutter. Cable Cutting Machine Makes Fast Work of a Tedious Job

Cool light

This is a nice light build.  I like the jig the author made for carving out the center of a 4×4 post too. https://www.instructables.com/id/FADing-Fall-Asleep-Device/

How to run a brush less harddrive motor

Nice write-up on how to build a controller for these motors.  An arduino is used to control it. https://www.instructables.com/id/Run-Brushless-Motor-by-Arduino-L298/

Arduino controlled finget Jointer

Now this is a build I was looking more for in a jointer for your table saw.  The arduino with a stepper is used to move the wood into each position to make the next joint.  I like the hold … Continue reading

Interesting cheap caliper to arduino measuring system

Interesting build.  The author has a nice video on it here.  Then the link below has some detailed directions in a PDF file. http://www.homemadetools.net/forum/experimental-measurement-system-4950?homelistings#post5989 http://rick.sparber.org/CBOO.pdf

The ghetto CDROM CNC machine

Basically the author just mounted the stuff to a box and went from there.  Note that the arduino is controlling the steps too.   Instead of using something like a stepstick. https://www.instructables.com/id/Simple-Easy-Homework-Machine/

Clever build to make finger joints with a table saw

Not even using the jointer blade too.  Just a standard table saw and the sled is nice and small (so portable).  The author uses an arduino to count steps on the crank.  Too bad it didn’t use a stepper to … Continue reading
