Another 3D AR-15 part out

With over 600 rounds thru it…   If this keeps up, it won’t be buying at gun that is illegal in states like NY that would be a problem, folks will just beable to “print” one. This is funny how the … Continue reading

A one armed 3D printer

I like this build, it looks simple and could be easy to expand…but…I would be worried about the weight on the heater dragging the arm down on full reach.  Either way its still pretty cool looking. http://hackaday.com/2013/02/25/scara-arm-finally-prints-plastic-parts/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

Use a lego machine to make clothe

Nice idea, where basically the author made a wheever out of legos.  I wonder how long those plastic parts would last doing this work. http://gizmodo.com/5985086/who-needs-to-knit-when-you-can-use-a-lego-machine-that-makes-clothes-automagically

Print a Record

Cool, you can print your own records.  The only downside is it needs improvements. http://www.howtogeek.com/132095/3d-printing-technique-yields-working-records/

Using a RPi to control a ShapeOko CNC

Lets see, it lower power than a PC, doesn’t need fans, and has more horsepower than a arduino…got me sold. http://blog.makezine.com/2013/02/12/network-enabled-shapeoko-cnc-uses-raspberry-pi-and-alamode/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+makezineonline+%28MAKE%29 Another good examples of this can be found below with source and display for the CNC. http://www.wired.com/design/2013/02/raspberry-pi-3-d-printer/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+wired%2Findex+%28Wired%3A+Top+Stories%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher

Obama talks about 3D printers

Another bit that came out of his speech was support for things like 3D printers.  I would like to see some money behind that support like China is http://www.3ders.org/articles/20130213-president-obama-called-3d-printing-the-potential-to-revolutionize-in-state-of-the-union-address.html

China going to start making 3D Desktop Printers

Looks like the big companies in the US are going to be too late to this market.  China announced the dreammaker, a small 3D printer for the desktop.  Its spec’s look pretty good, and it should be around 1100 US, … Continue reading

New 3D gun clip design, nicnamed the Cuomo

Being in NY, I got a kick out of the name.  The author designed and build a 30 round clip for an AR15.  Given he used a commerical printer to print.  Its still pretty neat that its out there. http://www.3ders.org/articles/20130207-defense-distributed-unveils-new-3d-printed-gun-magazine-and-named-it-cuomo.html
