PocketNC, an Affordable Five-Axis CNC | MAKE

This is a nice small CNC, can handle metal and sounds like it will be pretty precise, but…at 3 grand and up, I’ll stick to a shopbot. http://makezine.com/2013/09/23/pocketnc-an-affordable-five-axis-cnc/

Peachy, the $100 3D printer kit

OK I broke down and finally decided to talk about this printer.  It looks pretty cool and is kindof like a Stratasys printer.  My concerns are: This is the first DIY resin printer I know of Its a kit It … Continue reading

Keysave: Store and save your keys for printing out

$200 MakiBOX 3D Printer

Boy 3D printer prices are dropping fast.  This one is a decent looking spec’s for a 3D printer..with no heater bed.  It will be interesting to see how long before we start seeing them on folks desks. http://hackedgadgets.com/2013/09/18/200-makibox-3d-printer/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+HackedGadgets+%28Hacked+Gadgets%29

Use a 3D printer to make a custom pot

Instead of spitting out plastic, it spits out clay.  A neat idea, I wonder how the author fire’s the pots without cracking (they seem awfully thin to me). http://www.3ders.org/articles/20130915-build-your-own-ceramic-delta-3d-printer.html

Another nice write-up on a zero probe tool for CNC (maybe 3D printer too)

Nice write-up on using a zero out probe to level out a table.  or find out where the high/low of the table is.  The author has the feedback go thru a limit switch point on the controller to get the … Continue reading

Nice write-up on the different 3D printer controller boards

Decent write-up on all the different…well not all but some of the bigger ones…3D printer controller boards out there.  I don’t think the article mentioned that some of those same boards are used in CNC (opensource) controllers too. http://hackaday.com/2013/09/06/3d-printering-electronics-boards/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

MilkRap- turn a milkcrate into a 3D printer

Basically this is a rep-rap like design with the crate being the frame.  Clever idea overall.  Makes it more portable too. http://www.instructables.com/id/MilkRap-Milk-Crate-RepRap/

The 3D paper printer now has color

I am not sure how I missed this one, but the printer that prints/cuts/glues reams of paper together to make a 3D model now does it in color(s) too.  Basically it prints on one sheet of paper then does everything … Continue reading

Make your own fort inside with fort loops

I got a kick out of this, basically you print out “loops” to attach to switches and doors to tie onto to make the indoor blanket fort. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Build-a-Fort-Using-3d-Printed-Fort-Loops/
