Nice way to figure out how to level a bed

If you work with homemade 3D printers, you know leveling the bed is the biggest pain in the butt.  The author came up with a simple way to level the bed using force sensitive resistors under it.  Which is great, … Continue reading

5 small CNC’s for hobby folks

Good article on 5 different CNC’s that a hobbyist could get.  My 2 cents, I like the new shapeoko 2.  About $700 for the kit.  Cheaper than my home built I did a few years back. http://makezine.com/2014/03/20/desktop-mill-roundup/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=%24%7Bfeed%7D&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+%24%7Bmakezineonline%7D+%28%24%7BMAKE%7D%29&utm_content=%24%7BGoogleReader%7D https://www.inventables.com/technologies/desktop-cnc-mill-kit-shapeoko-2

If you have a CNC, you can make your own furniture

If you have access to a good sized CNC, or maybe a HandiBot, you could make your own furniture from the opensource designs in the article below.  IF you have a CNC of course. http://makezine.com/magazine/open-source-furniture/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=%24%7Bfeed%7D&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+%24%7Bmakezineonline%7D+%28%24%7BMAKE%7D%29&utm_content=%24%7BGoogleReader%7D

new stand-alone CNC controller

An opensource one that that.  Its still in prototype, but the nice thing here is the GUI, line feed, and controller are all built in. http://hackaday.com/2014/03/14/dagu-the-standalone-cnc-controller/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

Site to source 3D parts

Interesting site where if I understand the “about us” bit, they print out 3D parts for you.  If the part already exists, they site will refer you to that instead (since in theory that would be cheaper). http://www.3dpartsource.com/

Another interesting 3D printed gun

Interesting 6 shot gun made in Japan from hobbists from the sound of it.  Not so sure I would worry about it since its barrel is HUGE and it looks like it would hold only 22 rounds.  I think a … Continue reading

Interesting article on a Delta Robot that just ran a successful kickstarter project.  It is not a 3D printer, but parts could be made from it, and it looks like it could be converted to one. For $100 bucks, it … Continue reading

A Lego based, glue gun, 3D printer

Interesting 3D printer that uses a glue gun (and build from legos) to make glow in the dark 3D prints. http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Glow-3D-Printer/
