An Arduino clone (Magpie) that has LED’s on the in/out ports

Yeah another arduino..but this one has LED’s on all the I/O lines.  This is nice for debugging purposes.  BUT…it costs $35.  Which is the full price for a real Arduino.  So I guess if you are going to buy a … Continue reading

LED Magic Staff

This is a cool build, and sounds pretty powerful, what would be cooler, a lightsabre. http://hackaday.com/2013/10/29/led-magic-staff-just-in-time-for-halloween/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

How to use an arduino to get distance

Nice write-up on tinkering with an Ultrasonic sensor.  I remember playing with these in the 1990’s, and it was not easy. http://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-Distance-Detector-with-a-Buzzer-and-LEDs/

Blinking Eyes with an ATiny

Nice instructions on making simple LED’s that “blink” using an ATiny and a few other parts.  ATiny chips can be had for a buck, so figure a total of $3 to make this.  Well on the cheap that is. http://makezine.com/projects/spooky-blinking-eyes/

Good Tutorial on using Arduino to drive a stepper motor

Good write up on how to use an arduino to run a stepper motor.  Except…I don’t think most folks can afford using a logic shrimp (150 bucks) to analyze the signals. http://dangerousprototypes.com/2013/10/16/arduino-stepper-motor-driver-tutorial/

Make and ATiny programming Shield

ATiny CPUs are arealy cheap..well relatively speaking compared to the full blown…But, you need to program them.  Here is a nice writeup on making a shield for arduino to do so. http://www.instructables.com/id/ATtiny-Programming-Shield-for-Arduino-1/

Arduino + breadboard + wheels = GOduino III

Clever idea of using the breadboard and the robots frame.  Not so sure I would use the custom arduino board thought. http://www.instructables.com/id/GOduino-III-the-breadboard-friendly-Arduino-base/

Simple proximity sensor for Arduino

Nice write-up and I think this is cheaper than buying a prox sensor. http://makezine.com/projects/use-a-diy-proximity-sensor-to-automate-your-haunted-house/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=%24%7Bfeed%7D&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+%24%7Bmakezineonline%7D+%28%24%7BMAKE%7D%29&utm_content=%24%7BGoogleReader%7D

Good write-up on lowend RF and arduino

Good write-up on using cheap RF (433 MHz) with an arduino.  I think you can get these things for 2-3 dollars, vs bluetooth, around $10-20. http://www.instructables.com/id/RF-315433-MHz-Transmitter-receiver-Module-and-Ardu/

LED Face Makeup

Interesting idea using an arduino low power clone from Adafruit to make a crown like mask. http://hackedgadgets.com/2013/10/13/led-face-makeup/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+HackedGadgets+%28Hacked+Gadgets%29
