Make you own Arduino Metal Detector

Pretty cool build, using an arduino to filter out the noise.  The only thing I can think of that would be nice is a better set of directions on how to build this. http://dzlsevilgeniuslair.blogspot.dk/2013/07/diy-arduino-based-metal-detector.html

Better to be a food vendor than a developer in china

Sad part is I sometimes wonder the same thing for developers in the USA after college expenses, dealing with being outdated, outsourced, etc. http://www.ubergizmo.com/2013/07/chinese-game-developer-quits-job-sells-street-food-doubles-his-salary/

3D printing could be bad for your health

Basically the melting of plastic is bad for you (so is toner in printers).  The end story, printing once in a while is not so bad, but all the time could lead to issues. http://gizmodo.com/3d-printing-indoors-is-as-bad-for-you-as-smoking-a-ciga-894193776?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+gizmodo%2Ffull+%28Gizmodo%29

Kickstarter project for a watercolor CNC robot

I say this a week ago where Evil Scientists put together a new kit for painting an image with a CNC and watercolors.  Neat idea, not so sure I would shell out $300 for one. http://hackedgadgets.com/2013/07/25/watercolorbot/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+HackedGadgets+%28Hacked+Gadgets%29

Xerox’s secret weapon

Apparently Ursula Burns, CEO of Xerox, is considered a secret weapon for Xerox. I can see some of the folks the author points to being correct, but not so sure I agree with the Xerox one. http://www.insidermonkey.com/blog/google-inc-goog-xerox-corporation-xrx-wall-streets-secret-weapon-women-200890/?singlepage=1

Xerox Research applying Tech to other uses

Interesting article on how Xerox research is applying its tech from printing/scanning to cheaper medical images and scanning license plates. http://www.menafn.com/3d65e6e7-7706-4e2b-a0fd-0dff78db501f/Feature-Story-Xerox-imaging-experts-shed-light-on-worlds-toughest-obstacles?src=main

Xerox: Sales up, profits down

OK now I am confused.  Xerox is “restructuring” (layoffs/buyouts), so the labor cost is lower, they increased their sales, but profits are still down.  So…where is the money going? http://www.marketwatch.com/story/xerox-2nd-quarter-profit-falls-sales-edge-up-2013-07-25?link=MW_latest_news
