Convert a bike wheel into windpower
I have seen builds like this before, but not one that is written up. Its a nice build thought a bit more work than I would have done, and I think I would have done a different way of putting … Continue reading
Another neat kid wind project
Found this windproject for kids that is pretty neat (and cheap) to build. I like the PVC stand for the motor mount. It also allows for the wires for the motor to go to a different exit point to try … Continue reading

Interesting 3D printed Windpower Turbine
Interesting build for small 3D printers to make in parts. My 2 cents, I am not so sure how well ABS will hold up to outdoors. http://www.instructables.com/id/3D-Printed-Wind-Turbine-uses-Bamboo/

Wind Powered music box
My TODO projects list is getting a bit long, and now I am going to add this to it. The author shows how to build a simple wind-powered music box. A few things I would do differently is take the … Continue reading

Umbrella Windpower
I was cleaning out some notes and found this, forgot all about it. The author uses umbrellas to power several devices (music box, bubble maker, etc) via wind. Pretty creative build. http://www.niklasroy.com/articles/133/umbrellaphone-umbrellabubble

Windpower build that highlights its not always worth it
I got a kick out of this build for a windmill. The author lives in an area where there is not much wind (so end result was it wasn’t worth the investment, except as a learning exerise) He did a … Continue reading
3D print your own portable wind power
Nice idea that has the frame be 3D printed out on a printrbot simple (so a small printer). It looks like it uses cloth for the panels. Down side, no spec’s or files or designs that I could find on … Continue reading
Cool and cheap mini windturbine for kids
Cool build for a simple wind turbine that is pretty cheap to make, and can be used with kids. Down sides, 1, the motor has to get pretty good speed to “light” the LED from my experience. 2, I wish … Continue reading

Interesting homemade windmill
This looks like a good project for kids. Most of the materials are pretty cheap (pvc pipe, old CD, motor from a VCR). Not so sure I would have picked a model airplane propeller thought, maybe build your own? http://www.instructables.com/id/Simple-Backyard-Wind-Turbine/

Cool water wheel to get garbage out of water
Nice project, basically the wheel turns a bit belt that pulls the garbage that is herded towards the belt. That is then deposited into a dumpster. Nice idea that is self sufficient. http://gizmodo.com/baltimores-solar-wheel-pulls-in-25-tons-of-harbor-garba-1578474782
