Filabot for making your own Filament

As any 3-D printer person knows, the filament is expensive.  But most of us toss out (or recycle) the basic plastics all the time (think milk carton).  The only problem is the stuff is not in the nice long thread material the printer needs.  So up comes the filabot which will help chip the plastic down, and melt it into a form that you can use in your printer.  It sounds promising but I wonder how much the deviation will be on the thickness of the plastic with this homebrewed solution.
