Google makes its Map interface easier to use
Not exactly sure what to file this one under. Anyways, Google just make it easier for folks to use its map data by incorporating JSON, in particular an interface called GeoJSON, for its maps. http://techcrunch.com/2014/03/19/google-maps-makes-creating-maps-easier-for-developers-adds-geojson-support-to-its-javascript-api/?ncid=rss&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Techcrunch+%28TechCrunch%29

Amazon Launches New Reporting Tools For EC2
This looks interesting and worth checking out. I know one of the reasons New Relic exists is because AWS reporting tools are…well…when I last checked they suck. http://techcrunch.com/2014/01/29/amazon-launches-new-reporting-tools-for-ec2/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Techcrunch+%28TechCrunch%29

3D-printers + cloud = not secure
Interesting article, just points out that the hobby groups for 3D printing are not thinking about security…at all. http://www.3ders.org/articles/20131130-3d-printers-in-the-cloud-and-network-security-challenge.html

Interesting business model for developers from box$rev
I’m going to have to look at this some more, but it sounds like if you have an app, and it gets integrated with box$rev, you will get extra cash for each box$rev that uses that app. I think… http://techcrunch.com/2013/06/06/box-wants-to-help-enterprise-app-developers-make-money-via-new-monetization-program-box-rev/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Techcrunch+%28TechCrunch%29
Looks like AWS added in OAUTH for other sites
Interesting, Amazon added in support to authenticate via google/facebook/etc etc. My 2 cents, sounds like OAUTH to me. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/05/29/aws_social_identity_verification/
Google Drive gets OCR
Yeah, so now I can take a pic of a document and get it OCR’ed for me. Without a scanner. http://lifehacker.com/google-drive-for-android-gets-ocr-scanning-file-downlo-509305696

Get Certified for the Cloud
I should have seen this one coming. Amazon is not offering certification for their cloud services. What will come next. The “basic” certification is $600. Whoops, wrong site, http://aws.amazon.com/certification/ And the class that will be in Rochester is http://aws.amazon.com/training/aws101/

Amazon provides encryption key managment
There doesn’t seem to be a month that goes by that amazon hasn’t added in a new service to its cloud. This time its called CloudHSM, and involves hardware encryption key managment? Once I say the roughly 1300 hundred a … Continue reading

FBI spying on cloud users?
Interesting article. I haven’t thought about the government spying on VPC’s. I have been more worried about the VPC providers spying in my opinion. Take Amazon for instance, Netflix runs all their stuff on AWS, Amazon also has a mini … Continue reading
