Use cheap cutting boards to make signs

I have actually thought about doing this myself.  The cutting boards look nice, and you can pop the board into a CNC to cut out a sign.  And the boards can be cheaper than getting plank from Home Depot. http://www.ikeahackers.net/2016/04/diy-door-sign-ikea-chopping-board.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Ikeahacker+%28ikeahacker%29

Adding bluetooth to a door lock

The author figured out the comm’s between the keypad and motor control to tap a bluetooth enabled arduino in.  Pretty clever. Add Bluetooth to a Cheap Electronic Lock   http://www.jpuderer.net/2015/12/my-fancy-bluetooth-le-operated-door-lock.html

Interesting USB standard from Google

It seems the goal of the standard is to make it easier to configure 3D printers, but it could be applied to other USB devices.  Sounds interesting but I am not sure it will take off. http://www.3ders.org/articles/20160416-google-engineers-create-webusb-api-to-connect-usb-devices-securely-to-the-web.html

A wall mounted calender/notification center based on RPi

Cool build, the author uses an old laptop screen with controller card.  and a Raspberry Pi for the brains.  Google is running the calender bit.  My 2 cents, just get an old LCD for the job.  Laptop controllers can run … Continue reading

Make your own remote spray can trigger

OK this is cool, a simple build to print out to trigger a spray can.  Only issue I can see is the clip that attaches to it could wear out. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1496622
