Hooking a doorbell to the internet

Nice write up on adding support for a doorbell to page you on the internet.  Would also be a nice addition to a home build security system. http://harizanov.com/2012/08/hooking-my-wireless-doorbell-to-the-internet/

Gent for around $100 in parts builds a wearable PC with a Raspberry Pi as the core.  Nice setup and a heck of alot cheaper than Googles proposed one (I believe at 2 grand). http://blog.makerbar.com/?p=254

Make some Easy Magdeburg Hemispheres

Clever and simple idea to build a Magdeburg Hemisphere, basically you cause a vaccum in the middle with a small flame.  This would make a good science project someday http://makeprojects.com/Project/The-Magdeburg-Hemispheres/2473/1
