DIY Laser Tripwire Alarm

Interesting build.  I don’t think I would do it (seems like it would be pretty costly). http://makezine.com/video/diy-hacks-how-tos-laser-tripwire-alarm/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=%24{feed}&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+%24{makezineonline}+%28%24{MAKE}%29&utm_content=%24{GoogleReader}

Nice CNC built by a 16-17 year old

Took the kid over a year to build it, but it looks nicer than some shopbots.  Not sure on the total cost, but I would put it close to 1 G in material. http://www.instructables.com/id/Building-a-CNC-router/

If your bosses tell you you’re ‘in it together’, don’t EVER believe them • The Register

Good article that basically says, DON’T believe what your boss says when it comes to job security.  As the article points out, the exec’s are in it for money too, so if they have to lie to get work out … Continue reading

Ultrabright LED Emergency Lamp

Nice write-up for a simple and nice looking emergency light.  I was thinking that a cell phone battery might be a good alternative here to make it cheaper. http://www.instructables.com/id/Ultrabright-LED-Emergency-Lamp/

Risk-Based Authentication

Another good article from Bruce on authentication.  Basically the article says to apply risk points to authentication, such as someone whom logs in from the same machine all the time would have a lower risk.  My 2 cents, this could … Continue reading
