OSQuery, Security tool from Facebook
Interesting tool. Sounds like it looks at what is on your system and see if there our any outstanding issues for those processes. I think… https://fossbytes.com/facebooks-open-source-security-tool-osquery-comes-windows/
Use 2 factor auth with RPi
Another good writeup on hack-a-day for Raspberry Pi’s. This time how to setup certificate based authentication, or 2 factor with google. Lock Up Your Raspberry Pi with Google Authenticator

Songbird 3D printed pistol
Interesting build. He is using metal liner (basically a barrel) into the gun. Still pretty bulky build compared to stuff you can buy. http://www.3ders.org/articles/20161002-metallic-barrel-liner-strengthens-newly-developed-3d-printed-gun-songbird.html

Got one of those cheap laser engravers, make some grids for it.
The author points out that the under $100 laser engravers are great but need a map on them. He does a good job on makeing a cover and grid pattern you can use with it. http://www.instructables.com/id/Laser-Engraver-Bed-Grid/

Build your own EMP Generator
Pretty neat build. Looks easy to make too. Love the “spark” bit in the build. http://hackedgadgets.com/2016/09/29/diy-emp-generator/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+HackedGadgets+%28Hacked+Gadgets%29
Simple and cheap LED tester
This is pretty simple build. Maybe $5 in materials if you don’t have it on hand. http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-LED-TESTER/
Xerox CEO going into being a columnist? Politics?
Xerox’s outgoing CEO, Ursula Burns, wrote this bit on TPP. Basically a supporting piece. Which is interesting since even Hillary Clinton is distancing herself from it these days… https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/how-passing-the-trans-pacific-partnership-will-be-good-for-america/2016/09/27/5fcd31b4-8386-11e6-a3ef-f35afb41797f_story.html?utm_term=.1d12879a090f

Using an ESP8266 to learn IR Remote Control
Hum…this would be worth using with old remotes to “repurpose”. http://www.instructables.com/id/Easiest-ESP8266-Learning-IR-Remote-Control-Via-WIF/
Build a cheap twin screw vise
Not so sure I can do it for $16 in NY, I think 2 pipe clamps and the pipe would run me more than that. I like the board release on the one sides of the vise. http://jayscustomcreations.com/2016/10/16-twin-screw-vise/
