I like the build for the arm, but…its alot of work, my 2 cents, I would adapt a lamp arm to do the same thing.

I have seen other jigs like this before, this is the first on thought with using bearings only to “roll” the board along for the thin strips. Me…I like some of the other builds as its a bit simplier, thought this one does allow for tall boards to be done as well as short ones.
Pretty simple and easy build, but…where the heck do you get 2 3/4s thick threaded rod and your “local hardware store”. I have looked for stuff like this at Home Depot and Lowes with no luck in the past. Usually its something I would have to custom order.

My 2 cents, I would have done color LEDS myself. The build is pretty nice, Not so sure I would take it on myself thought.

Basically the author used some aluminum angle iron, felt on one side, and harddrive magnets on the other and done.

Actually I like the authors build, its an add on to a sled that is rather nice as well.
First one is for making thin cuts on a tablesaw. Its a bit different take from other builds I have seen for this. Second on is for a rather fancy paint spray can shaker. Third one is for moving sheets of plywood (nice build but a bit overkill). Forth is for a portable router table, I actually could see myself making this one. The last one is for making a sanding wheel to sharpen tools on with your drillpress.

I have seen the gas version of this made by Izzy Swan. This one is nice since it removes the issues of running with a 2 cycle gas engine, and being electric, you can have an easy “kill” switch. Downside, electric from my experience does not cut as well. Oh another interesting bit is alot of this was made from “scraps”.
I like the authors solution to engage/dis-engage the casters on the bench. this way you can use cheaper casters for wheels on the bench vs the expensive ones that “lift” on their own. I also like the fact he build a way to store the whole thing onto a wall.
Nice build for a jigsaw. Not so sure I would make this over one for my circular saw. But I guess if you only have a jig saw, this would come in handy.
