Heck look, folks still using the Wink
I was worried they died off. Anyways, looks like someone has started on opensource project to replace existing Wink Firmware with something more open. This is nice cause Wink has several different antennas on it so it could support many … Continue reading
Make a pancake printer
So you still waiting for your pancakebot? Make your own instead. Interesting build where the batter comes out via gravity. All the ends/mounts you print out on your 3D printer, then build it around a griddle. http://www.instructables.com/id/Pancake-Printer/

Interesting 3D printed trigger assembly for a crossbow
Interesting build. The trigger is pretty detailed and looks professional like when done. Rest of the materials are stock PVC pipe and aluminum. http://www.3ders.org/articles/20160108-diy-dudes-put-different-spin-on-3d-printed-weapons-with-full-sized-crossbow.html

Homemade door opener and monitor
Interesting build, the author built his own arduino based board for it too. I like the build but…it looks like its just a basic back and forth over bluetooth to open/close the door (not very secure). http://www.instructables.com/id/Bluetooth-Door-Opener-Monitor/
Use a Jewelry loupe for a cheap magnifying glass for cameras
Good idea, you can pick them up pretty cheap and use them for yourself too. One of the issues I have with alot of phone cameras is the lack of physical zoom. Making the pixels bigger isn’t what I call … Continue reading

The simplest camera car mount
I think I found a use for some of my old cameras. This has to be one of the simpliest mounts I have seen yet, and using a coupler to allow removal of the camera is nice too. Actually I … Continue reading
Use acetone to transfer prints
I have heard of this being done with laser print outs to copper boards for circuits, never thought of using it to make signs. http://hackaday.com/2016/01/07/using-acetone-to-create-print-transfers/
Security design for IoT (aka embedded systems)
I always get a kick out of the IoT term. Basically its embedded systems. Anyways…interesting article covering a paper written by Prpl on how to secure embedded systems. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/01/07/prpl_secure_iot_guide/

Cool open source mason jar light design
Nice build for a solar lamp you can put in a mason jar. My 2 cents, cheaper to buy a few LED candles and glue them to the jar. The design is opensource, and looks nice, but…I figure about $10 … Continue reading

Interesting attack tool, Zarp
New one on me, Zarp seems to be oriented to attacking the local area network (so you are already on the network somehow). It looks like it builds off existing tools that do this already but has more automation too … Continue reading
