Silicon Valley is running out of innovation

Interesting article where the author quotes Alan Kay (inventor of OO Design) that Silicon Valley is running out of innovation.  Why?  Well companies are no longer sinking money into “dreaming” new ideas like Xerox did in the past with PARC.  He states that it would take 10 mill a year to make a new PARC to refresh it.

He brings up some good points.  Thought Xerox did not capitalize on many things that came out of PARC, many other companies started/did which really helped lead the tech revolution.  Just like Bell Labs did.  One glimmer of hope for me is Google Labs which seems to do allot of “tinkering” on the side.
