Looking for a simple central hub to monitor/control internet of things

So you don’t want to build your own controller, say with an RPi, you just want to buy something.  Well I have been eye’ing two systems that might do the job.  First one is the Mi Casa Verde VeraLite (say that 3 times) that runs about $200.  The second one is the Wink Connected Home Hub for $50 (and you can buy it at Home Depot.  Both look promising, but there have been several articles pointing out security issues (big ones too) with both devices.  The Veralite seems to beable to handle video cameras where the Wink can’t.  But the Wink has much more open standards supported..or say they do (many reviews seem to differ on that).

Me…I think I will stay with the home brewed system since $200 is still out of my range, and security is an issue for me.
