Turn inner tubes into a bouncy seat

I thought this was funny, the author took some old bike innertubes and basically made an under 100 lb bouncy seat with them.  Cool idea but you may want to wash the tubes first to keep your clothes from getting … Continue reading

I have been thinking of reducing my collection of movies into just digital format again, SO read up on the latest rips out there.  Handbrake made 2nd on the list (used that in the past), and VLC Player, but …MakeMKV … Continue reading

Add this to the list of stuff I want to print out

I watched the video on this one, its pretty neat, the cylinder seems to fly thru the air better than a football.  And yes, this is on my list to print. http://3dprint.com/73490/vortex-tubular-wing-model/

Use an encoder to tell if you have a print jam

Gotta say this is a good idea, the author uses an ATiny and a wheel to tell if the filament is mov ing or not, to detect jams in the print head. http://hackaday.com/2015/06/16/prevent-failed-prints-with-a-filament-speed-sensor/

Interesting homemade bottle cutter

Interesting build, I like the rule built into it.  What would be cool is if the author incorporated the flame and ice into the build too.  So after you score, you can keep spinning it to cut. http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Glass-Bottle-Cutter/

Use an RPi to controll your HVAC

Nice build, simple board too, the author basically makes a shield, or hat for Raspberry Pi to help interface your heating/cooling systems.  If you already have a RPi, you can by the shield and materials four I think $50 US?  … Continue reading

Make a ghetto hydrolysis (hydrogen/oxygen splitter)

Nice build, the authors basically take a soda bottle, bucket, 2 PC heat sinks, a wall wart, and lots of glue from a glue gun to make hydrogen.  A few things I would change in this build is: tap or … Continue reading

One serious homemade filter for a rain barrel

When I first saw this I thought, OK cool someone converted a 5 gal bucket into a simple rain catcher.  But…the author didn’t stop there, its got about 1/2 full of different materials to “filter” the water. http://www.instructables.com/id/Raincatcher/

Nice PVC pipe cache

I have seen these before too, but what I like about this build is the author uses a rubber test plug to seal the end of it, and damp rid to help with moisture problems.  This could be a good … Continue reading

Convert a bike wheel into windpower

I have seen builds like this before, but not one that is written up.  Its a nice build thought a bit more work than I would have done, and I think I would have done a different way of putting … Continue reading
